Snap Judgment: Jammy Awards
Keller Williams and Chevy Chase
May 7, 2008
Whatever your stance on dreadlocks and hula hoops, you have to hand it to the jam band scene for its resistance to dullness. At the Jammy Awards, held at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, cameo appearances and odd combinations came one after the other. Chevy Chase sat in with Keller Williams, Doug E. Fresh rapped with Galactic, Trey Anastasio jammed with a Beatles cover band and everybody improvised like it was their job. The biggest surprise of the night? Lifetime Achievement Award winner Phish did not play. —Cristina Black
