A true pioneer on the Bushwick arts scene when it opened in 2002, Chez Bushwick really subsidizes rehearsals and performances, all the while establishing itself as a powerful advocate for artists. Thanks to these subsidies, performance artists of all persuasions can rent studio space for as little as $5/hour. Dancer/producer Jonah Bokaer was the driving force behind CB’s creation, hence the organization’s commitment to producing avant-garde dance and experimental performance art. But all disciplines are welcome.
