This subterranean West Village lounge is looking to get back in touch with the space’s roots. The room used to be the Gaslight Cafe, which was a performance space and music venue back in the '60s. A small stage in the completely remodeled space brings live entertainment back to the location—expect everything from readings to comedy to live music. Things will be decidedly less scrappy than they were back in the day, when coffee was the beverage of choice among the patrons. Now you’ll be able to find a full list of cocktails from a former bartender from Balthazar. Classic cocktails like Manhattans and mai tais are served alongside drinks like the Gaslight, which features house-infused chipotle tequila with lime and honey. Here’s a hint: If the comic on the stage is bombing, order one of those.
