The Cinefuegos complex in the East Village used to house a sandwich shop in this small space, but then they asked an important question: Why serve sandwiches when another bar can be packed on to the premises? Joining El Cobre and the punch bar upstairs, this tiny watering hole puts the focus on bitters. Expect numerous types of the cocktail additive to be in the house, including a version that's not available anywhere else in the world. The drink list is full of potent choices like the Red Envelope, a mix of Gin, Averna, aperol, Benedictine and bitters—all of the libations here promise numerous layers of flavor. To go with the drink offerings, which fall in the range of $12 a pop, a menu of Latin bites is available. Even though the grub is good, the drinks are the draw here, and expect the blue-and-white stools to be full of cocktail geeks.
