21 is one of those places that you only go to when Grandpa is in town. The historic restaurant is trying to change that with this new lounge space, located just past the famed jockey statues outside. Yes guys, you still have to wear a jacket, and jeans are a big no-no, but the lounge does have a more casual feel. There are nuts on the bar, and a specially designed bar menu that includes snack items like sliders and buffalo shrimp that’s definitely meant to appeal to a younger audience (though grandpa will like them if you can convince him to try ‘em). The restaurant has a long history with booze; it notoriously served alcohol during prohibition. One thing it’s never offered? Draft beer. Until now, that is. Six drafts will pour brews like Prohibition Ale. If that’s a little too cutting edge for you old timers, check out the wine list. Some things still give props to tradition, as there are 21 labels available by the glass.
