his newish place is a godsend, especially in winter because while everybody else is muttering about the cold, the folks here don't seem to pay it any mind. Walk through the door and you might as well be on an island off the coast of Africa. The place is comfortable and cushy, with leather banquettes and potted palms, though it does get a bit crammed. The bistro menu is heavy into French-Colonial cooking, which translates into tasty, spiced-up meats and seafood, and the ethnic-sounding, hard-to-pronounce house cocktails are kicky and creative.
