If you're stuck in Midtown and can't hit the beach, this basement lounge is the next best thing. The bartenders are decked out in board shorts and mix drinks like the "frozen corona," which is essentially a tequila snow cone. While the décor isn't as tiki-heavy as downtown's Painkiller, a yellow surfboard and a mural of a hazy sun imbue the space with a hint of the tropics. If you're hungry, the menu contains beach-themed options that hit the spot after a day surfing the waves—or navigating the touristy streets of this area. They've got a baked mahimahi that's wrapped in a banana leaf, and fish tacos served on housemade frybread. Travelers (and people back from a European vacation) take note: This is one of the few bars in the city that will accept Euros for payment. Based on current exchange rate, this is good news for both your wallet and your buzz.
