This 345-capacity club used to be the Lion's Den, one of a number of NYU-area music venues with mostly local bands on the bill. With a spiffed-up interior and state of the art sound and lighting systems, it could rise to the top of that specialized pack. Early bookings include New Orleans-style jazz collectives and national jam bands, plus a smattering of tribute bands. But the venue expects to host a wide variety of groups, "with the exception of hardcore, thrash or really heavy metal," according to the website. So leave those earplugs at home.
