Deep inside Penn Station lurks a bit of a surprise: A not-as-seedy-as-you'd-expect pub with one of the longest bars in the city (more than 100 feet), a (shockingly) decent raw bar and the best pint of Guiness around. The atmosphere is strangely disorienting and un-New York (you are underground, in a train station) but the pace is vibrant and will keep you on your feet until it's time to catch your train. At 5 p.m., expect the joint to get packed with working stiffs putting away a few before heading home to Jersey or the Island.
