Valhalla
The name of this bar means Viking heaven and it’s easy to see how a horned Norseman might mistake this spot for paradise. With 33 beers on tap and even more by the bottle, it’s no wonder that every thirsty beer drinker doesn’t make their way here for some pillaging. They rotate their selection by the season and feature a few $5 options every day. It’s too upscale for drinkers from neighboring Fordham University and too low key for cocktail snobs who’d rather pay $16 for fancy ice. This makes it just right for those looking for some conversation with friends over a quality brew (or six). As you kick back at one of Valhalla’s wooden picnic tables and sip your pint, you’ll realize that treasure sure has changed. In the days of the Vikings, it was livestock and gold that was plundered. Today’s heavenly delight? The bar’s free wi-fi.
