A college neighborhood calls for a college bar, and that's just what 1020 delivers. Little more, little less. There are the occasional locals, but it's mostly Columbia students packing the house, and since you're able to buy a beer and get change back with a $5 (no small feat anywhere in New York), it's no surprise the bar is a popular watering hole, especially in a neighborhood increasingly lacking in such destinations. If passing the time with a draft and a few friends at this pseudo-dive isn't enough entertainment in itself, there's darts, pool and a periodic trivia night. It's also a reasonably good destination to fend off the frat crowd—unless, of course, you are the frat crowd.
