The Green Fairy flourishes: The once-banned booze is reborn, remixed, really good
Maybe it's the "does wormwood make go you insane?" factor. Or maybe it's the allure of absinthe-drinking painters, cads and literary icons like Van Gogh, Picasso and Hemingway. Or maybe it's just fun to drink something that used to be illegal. Whatever the reason, since absinthe—the highly alcoholic anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs and wormwood—was legalized in New York after close to a century of banishment, interest in the Green Fairy has been on the rise.
