Not a second later, in walked a trio of seemingly tipsy gals and an unrelated duo of guys. Let the party begin! The girls ordered cocktails and proceeded to bop around and shout along to "Last Nite" by the Strokes before settling into the corner settees, which we took as our cue to exeunt.

Bottom line: Clearly, The Annex on Thursday nights doesn't get started anywhere near the time it opens. Do yourself a favor and make it the last stop of the night.
