Cyprus Avenue
Tough times call for whiskey and comfort food. After watching cash-strapped Park Slopers slowly start to abandon the Spanish finger foods at Cafe Tapeo, the owner turned to more elemental offerings like Guinness meat pie, bangers and mash and Irish curry fries. For now, the menu is abbreviated while the pub undergoes a full renovation—a fireplace will arrive in time for the autumn chill—but pot pies, Irish breakfast and pot roast will eventually be available too. Until then, the beer garden is in full effect, a great place to enjoy an open air pint, whiskey or even Sangria—with Happy Hour prices available all day through September, you'll have plenty of cash left over for some $1.50 sliders. To help complete the transition from tapas to Tipperary, live Irish music on the weekends is on tap for the fall as well. (Obligatory mention of Van Morrison and his lovely eponymous song.)
