Twelve NYC bars and a jazz band feted the close of the Manhattan Cocktail Classic
October 4, 2009
Twelve notable NYC bars (and their bartenders, and a generous handful of liquor sponsors) joined forces with big jazz band Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks for a closing Sunday Night Spectacular soiree to celebrate the success of the Manhattan Cocktail Classic Fall Preview—the city's first-ever "multi-day event celebrating the history, contemporary culture, and artful craft of the cocktail." The setting was the New York Public Library's handsome Astor Hall; guests were encouraged to dress old-timey, drink liberally and dance enthusiastically; and on the menu were pre-Prohibition era NYC delicacies—oysters, fondue, a spit-roasted pig and the like. Great fun was had by all—it's hard to imagine how they'll top it at the official Manhattan Cocktail Classic, in May 2010. Stay tuned!
