The Cellar Bar in the Bryant Park Hotel has been open for a while, so midtown office workers will be pleased to have another subterranean after-work option. This bar at the Andaz Hotel, which is centered around two 14-foot walnut wood slabs, focuses on a rotating list of seasonal cocktails. And yes, they've got the cool ice. If you order a whisky or scotch on the rocks, expect a single, gigantic, hand-cut cube to chill your drink. For those who prefer cocktails rather than booze on the rocks, check out drinks like The Booted Manhattan, a combination of Sazerac Rye, Carpano Antica, artichoke-infused spirit Cynar and Lagavulin. To go with your beverage, the chic space offers a menu of farm-to-table choices like a roasted pork shoulder with black kale, raisins and orange peel. While the basement lounge won't take reservations, they don't want people milling around. The hosts will only accommodate you if there is an open seat, so get there early.
