Dutch Kills
Classic drinks are the focus at cocktail lounge Dutch Kills, nightlife impresario Sasha Petraske's foray into Long Island City, where tiny white floor tiles and handsomely polished wood bounce around the wall sconces' golden light. The well-priced drinks (from $8 to $10) are served with hand-cut ice and made with fresh ingredients, old-school mixers and high-end liquors. There's a small pub-grub menu (from the Sage General Store), and musicians perform live jazz and ragtime on select evenings.
The back room has a piano, a demure chandelier and sawdust-covered floors. Sort of like a really gorgeous yet inexplicably rustic wild-west tavern.

LIC seems like the place to be these days as more and more restaurants and bars pop up there. I just spent the day there this weekend and here are my favorites.
