Continuing with the trend of cavernous mega-venues blazing the Gowanus-gentrification trail, art and performance venue Littlefield has opened its doors between Third and Fourth Avenues in a 6,200-square-foot former warehouse, outfitted and made eco-friendly and organic-chic with recycled-rubber soundproofing, wind power and a bar made from salvaged bowling lanes. (Future greening plans, like a landscaped roof, are in the works to reduce the venue's carbon footprint to zero.)

The space is separated into a larger performance area that can hold about 200 people, and a more-intimate bar with a green and spacious open-air courtyard, although the partition between the two areas can be moved, depending on the day's scheduled event. Movie screenings, concerts, art installations, happy hours and all sorts of awesome but uncategorizable live performances are scheduled all year round—all within a 10-minute walk of 10 different train lines, thereby reducing your reasons for not checking it out.

(Oh, and if you're hungry, they're occasionally serving ice cream floats, with and without alcohol—plus a bigger menu planned for down the road.)
