Blind Tiger Ale House

Beer geeks worried when the original Blind Tiger shut down and a Starbucks surfaced in its place. After a bit of a hard time, they're back up and running in a space only blocks away from the Hudson Street original. The beer is still superb and plentiful with over 75 different brews to sample. Although the sawdust isn't quite as abundant as it was, the interior is cozy and simple (the floor, beams, and counter are all over 150 years old and transported from a 19th century farmhouse). The weekend nights get a little unbearable, as young, fratty types pack the place but a weeknight on the sidewalk patio with a cheese plate from nearby Murray's and a bottle of Captain Lawrence Nor'easter is tough to beat.
