Nostaligic for days when the term "bowery bum" actually meant something? Visit Mars Bar, the king of true dive bars, where on an average night rats leap past the front door and the patron on the splintered bar stool next to you vomits his shot of bourbon. It's dark, dreary, and mildly offensive, but still an experience worth having—especially if you value small perks like an M&Ms machine (though who knows how long they've been in there) and a good old-school jukebox.

You've been listening to so much Ramones this week you're beginning to think Mondo Bizzaro was a good album. Now you need a release because it's Friday and you want to pretend to be half your age. These are the bars.
