The former Vasmay Lounge is now The Local 269, a friendly and laid-back neighborhood bar on the corner of Houston and Suffolk, with a pleasantly scuffed decor, exposed brick walls, a handful of two-top tables, mismatched chandeliers over the bar area and (gasp) a non-flat-screen TV presiding over the room, hospital-room-style, from the upper corner of the wall. A 2-for-1 happy hour deal adds another incentive for relaxed local drinkers. It's like it was always there.
