If it weren't for the whole "famous novel title" thing, Under the Radar is what this relaxed hidden gem should be called, especially given its location. Across the street from perpetually packed heavyweight The Ginger Man and on the same block as other major megapubs, this easygoing affair is dark and intimate, with a surprisingly semi-bookish crowd (a shock given the neighborhood) and a chatty, accomodating staff. Known for stocking more than 40 kinds of tequila and famous (or notorious, depending on your preferences) margaritas, Volcano also offers a nice array of gin and a slew of beers.
