Written and performed by NY Nightlife Award finalist actress and singer Micaela Leon, "Tigers, Muses & Jasmine" celebrates the avant-garde daring of eight of the most notorious female trend-setters of Weimar Berlin. The one-woman revue intersperses songs by Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky, Hanns Eisler and Kurt Weill with the words, ideas and signature gestures of a remarkable rogues gallery.
The show not only celebrates the avant-garde derring-do of these free spirits, it dramatizes the brewing Nazi storm on the horizon as it grows increasingly menacing. Among the eight women portrayed, who traded in the scandal, rebellion and sense of experimentation that swelled in Berlin between the two world wars are Marlene Dietrich, Anita Berber Valeska Gert.
