On June 12, 1744, the Portuguese government voted to ban Brazil's production of its beloved national liquor, cachaça—the booze we mostly know now as "that stuff that goes into a caipirinha." It eventually got un-banned, but this Friday, June 12, seems as good a day as any to focus on and celebrate its growing role in cocktailery (taking a cue from Repeal Day's playbook, perhaps). And so, bars and restaurants around the city have put together their finest cachaça-based drinks for your enjoyment, all day. Viva Brasil—and viva Cabana Caçhaca, the double-gold-medal-winning brand that's sponsoring the whole thing.
And while there's plenty of caipirinhas to choose from, there's plenty of non-caipirinhas, too (lord, are we tired of spelling "caipirinhas"). Anyway, the drinks:

I wish Barrio Chino was participating, they have the best caipirinha in town! Although wow, The Brazilian Cup at Freeman's sounds amazing.
