A night of classic cocktails and spirited tomfoolery at the New York Public Library.
Part Gatsby party scene, part LCD Soundsystem gig, the Manhattan Cocktail Classic Opening Gala was pure, alcohol-fueled cool. Blending old and new. You see those top hats! Dozens of the country’s top mixologists were stationed throughout the entire New York Public Library—including the rarely seen basement, where a funk band played loudly. Or was that a brass band? Damn Perfect Manhattans. There were four bands actually. And 3,000 people, ice sculptures, small people, smoked meats from Fatty ‘Cue, punch from Dave Wondrich and Mario Batali. Just hanging out with Campari in hand. As advertised, an epic event. Bravo Manhattan Cocktail Classic! The libations continue to flow all weekend.
