Shake it up! An evening of "remixology" and Appleton Reserve tiki cocktails at Macao.
Last night four of the country's best mixologists competed in Appleton Estate Reserve's "Remixology" Bartender's Challenge Finals at Tribeca's Macao Trading Co. Bartenders were judged on their knowledge of Appleton trivia, speed at making some classic rum-based cocktails and creativity with their rum-based tiki concoctions inspired by songs. Judges included Kelly Bensimon of "The Real Housewives of New York City" and some stellar behind-the-bar talent. Brian Miller of Death + Co. brought home the win for New York City. Miller's bag of tricks included a spicy, cinnamon-spiked rendition of a pina colada, a "Mexican tiki" masked bar-top dancer and a conga line danced to Harry Belafonte's "Jump in the Line."
