Happy hour on Wall Street, undaunted by doom and gloom
When the stocks go down on Wall Street, do the bottoms of shot glasses go up? (When there's a financial crisis in America, is there an alcohol crisis in livers? When Lehman Brothers falls, does drinking Christian Brothers Brandy rise? And so on and so forth.) We bar-crawled through the Financial District last Wednesday expecting to see a lot of long faces and glasses full of tears, but most people seemed in high spirits. Or at least that's what they were projecting from 5 to 8 p.m. on a school night—who knows what they do at home. But here's where they drink after work (like at Suspenders, pictured), and here's to everyone's health, financial and otherwise. —Edith Zimmerman
