Since 2007, Aaron Brink and Steve Reidell, collectively known as The Hood Internet, have been reinvigorating mash-ups with their blend of current and classic hip-hop with indie rock staples. Unlike their like-minded—but technically deficient—peers, the duo is loathe to simply slap an a capella over a beat and call it a day. Rather, their mixtapes play like familiar yet innovative slabs of creative appropriation to the tune of Dr. Dre marrying Class Actress and Drake crossing swords with Miike Snow.
