The Levee | Former coke bar
Ahhh, the turn of the millennium. Things were simpler then. Williamsburg wasn't quite Williamsburg yet, and drug-dealing bars made no effort to hide the mischief they were selling. Kokie's was the place to be if you wanted a certain something—and they even sold T-shirts emblazoned with their name, though handkerchiefs probably would have been more fitting. The formerly Puerto Rican–run drug bar is now The Levee, however: a friendly neighborhood spot offering board games and bottomless bowls of Cheez Balls, with nary a bloody nose in the house.
