When burlesque and punch bowls collide
What is it about classic cocktails and burlesque that go together like rye and bitters? Maybe if you're lucky enough to hear (strictly by word of mouth!) the date for the next Drunken Dragon Night in the basement of Macao Trading Co., then you too can hear the stellar bartenders teach you a thing or two about mixing a cocktail, followed by two hours of drinking and burlesque follies, hosted by Calamity Chang. Last night's festivities were devoted to rye whiskey, courtesy of Bulleit Whiskey's latest addition to their family of small batch whiskeys. For the party, bartenders Dushan Zaric, Aisha Sharpe and Elayne Duke created some new twists on traditional rye cocktails. We liked the Ruby Tuesday which featured Bulleit Rye, Benedictine, fresh lemon juice and black cherry puree. Guests were entertained by hostess Calamity Chang and her giant glass of champagne (oops!), Gal Friday, Nikki Le Villain and Miss Ekaterina.
