NU Hotel Opening Party
If you're ever imprisoned in the jail on Atlantic Avenue—at least after 2012, when the Brooklyn House of Detention is rumored to be opening again—and then get sprung loose, you can now celebrate freedom across the street at the NU Hotel, Downtown Brooklyn's first boutique hotel. The proprietors bill it as a bar and hotel, but mostly it's just a hotel with drink service in the minimal-chic lobby—think The Standard in L.A., less the pathetic celebrity stalking. Mios Zica, of Employees Only, has constructed three cocktails for the opening, including the Kings County (brandy, prosecco, St. Germain, Peychaud bitters). We checked it out at the opening party last night.
