Oskar Blues Brewery's Dale's Pale Ale
Pour me another! Over 100 breweries came to Fort Greene to serve up tastes of their finest beers at The Village Voice’s Brooklyn Pour Craft Beer Festival on Saturday afternoon. From California to Maine, craft beer makers from all over the country were thrilled to be in Brooklyn to show off their stuff and quench the thirsts of beer connoisseurs and enthusiasts from around the city.
The event was so well-attended that it was tough to get to every table, but we managed to taste a nice assortment of ales, lagers and seasonal brews. It was no surprise that pumpkin ales had a huge presence—it is, after all, the middle of October! Shipyard Brewing Company’s Shipyard Pumpkinhead’s warm cinnamon notes and clean finish made it a clear stand out. Blue Point Brewery’s Octoberfest had a crispness and bite that also left an impression on us. For those interested in learning how to brew their own beer, the Brooklyn Brew Shop poured a tasty Bourbon Dubbel made with their famous Beer Making Kit which they had on display. Not a bad Saturday afternoon!
