Matt Torrey's
If there's one thing that Bushwick residents love it's their beer. Even so, the walk to Metropolitan Avenue's brew spot Harefield Road seemed too daunting for some neighborhood booze hounds. Yes, it's only two blocks away from newly opened Matt Torrey's, but that is the Sahara when you're jonesing for some suds. The same owners are behind both bars, and they're doing their damndest to make sure this neighborhood never runs dry. This spacious hall of beer skews local, with over sixteen Empire State varieties on draft. The tin ceilings, picture windows and ash wood floors all create a laid-back vibe—nobody will judge you here for knocking back nine pints in a single sitting. Food is not available yet, but the owners plan to install a kitchen down the road. Perfect, as if you're too lazy to walk the couple extra blocks to Harefield, then you're probably not too keen on stumbling to the pizza shop after a night of heavy drinking.
