The Tippler
New York, NY 10011
Tad Carducci and Paul Tanguay are not really blood brothers but rather bourbon brothers. They're the mixology force known as the Tippling Bros., who run the bar program at the multi-city Mercadito chain and consulting on various projects. Now, after years in the making, the duo have a bar to call their own. And what a bar it is, taking up 3,000 square feet under Chelsea Market. (The space, a former stock room, was unused for decades). Twenty cocktails, 25 wines by the glass and 25 beers will be served to the crowd—which will certainly include many of the building's high-profile office workers; Google, Food Network and Major League Baseball now have a certified happy hour spot. Carducci says the drinks will include NYC classics, Tippling Bros classics and an homage to trashy '80s/'90s drinks like the Pearl Harbor Necklace (gin, melon cordial, fresh pineapple juice, tapioca balls). The Booty Collins features green tea-infused gin, lemon and schwing-worthy yohimbe herb. "We want it to be a great bar, regardless of what we are putting over the bar," says Carducci when asked the million-dollar vodka-soda question. Yes, they will be served.
