Selena Gomez struck a pose on the red carpet for Thursday's premiere of her new film, Spring Breakers, in which she plays a bikini-clad college student who gets involved in sex, drugs and violence.

Her move from Disney girl to Girl Gone Wild in the R-rated film has been "a little awkward," she tells AP, "but great."

Adds, Gomez, 20, "I am getting a little bit older, so I wanted to push myself and kind of get into a little bit more of an indie world."

The Wizards of Waverly Place star admitted the fast track to stardom is strange. "Honestly, it's been a weird transition. You never really know what's right or wrong and you can only do the best you can," she says.

But she did have advice for some of her young fans, who gathered outside the ArcLight Theatre hoping to catch a glimpse of the star: Her new movie isn't for them.

"I think they're really here to see me. I don't think they're here to see the movie," she told AP, adding, "This was a little bit different. So, yes, they shouldn't go see this."
