What’s summer without a great reading list? If you’re hungry for pleasure, you’ve got plenty of choices, whether you like self-help stuff or literature.
Need instruction? There's sex-workshop pioneer and orgasm queen Betty Dodson has "Sex For One: the Joy of Self Loving" and her upcoming book "The Orgasm Doctor." Also try Playgirl columnist and local sex-ed maven Jamye Waxman and her new title "Getting Off: A Woman’s Guide to Masturbation." (Check both authors' websites for their frequent local appearances)
Or, if you prefer steamy fiction over the “how-to” approach, try newly released erotic compilation “Private Places,” featuring short-but-hot stories by bestselling author Robin Schone and others.
Just need direction? Sex educator and author Yvonne K. Fulbright’s got a host of great books like "Sex with Your Ex & 69 Other Things You Should Never Do... Plus a Few that You Should" to get you through many a lazy afternoon or summer Friday. (Available at SexualitySource.com)
And if all else fails, try a little one-on-one work.
“Anytime there is something that is bothering you about sex with yourself or your partner is a good time to talk to a therapist, counselor, spiritual teacher, shaman, tantra teacher or a sex coach,” says Dodson, who began doing private, hands-on coaching for women in the early ‘90s. “Having an orgasm isn’t a panacea for all that ails us, but never having one can drive you nuts.”
