Giant Laundromat
At the start of "The Kept Man," a lonely and depressed Jarvis wanders into a nearby laundromat, where she then meets a group of three handsome, stay-at-home husbands who call themselves The Kept Men Club. Attenberg found inspiration for this setting at Giant Laundromat (173 N. 3rd St. at Metropolitan Ave.,718-782-1815), a massive washing palace that opened in 2004 and features an array of comfy couches, video games and a techno music soundtrack. "Amidst all of the old laundromats in the neighborhood, this place always symbolized the new changes in the neighborhood: First they bring the laundromats, and then the condos follow," says Attenberg. "It's also a great place to people watch, and you never have to wait in line there because there are like nine million machines."
