June: Show some pride! And roll out the green carpet for NYC's outdoor film fests
Bust out those picnic mats and get ready to start elbowing for room: NYC's outdoor film festivals kick off this month, including the Bryant Park Film Fest, Films on the Green (hosted by the French Embassy, and screening at several parks) and Movies Under the Stars at Riverside Park (all TBD). If you prefer your film with food, there's the ever-expanding NYC Food Film Festival (TBD), which last year hosted gluttonous events at Water Taxi Beach and Dumbo.
There's no shortage of parades, either: Revelers will be flashing skin—lots of it—at the Lesbian and Gay Pride March (June 24), one of the many events celebrating Pride Week (June 16-24); waterborne creatures will be flipping fins at the Mermaid Parade (TBD); and thousands will rock Fifth Avenue at the Puerto Rican Day Parade (TBD).
Other highlights: Get in line for summer's top music festivals, such as the Central Park SummerStage (TBD). And don't forget: 9th Annual Big Apple BBQ Block Party (TBD), the Belmont Stakes (June 11), the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic (TBD), Gourmet Latino Festival (TBD) and Father’s Day (June 17).
