Life, liberty and the pursuit of many, many tube steaks at Coney Island
An annual Coney Island event since 1916, this Fourth of July staple is now famous enough to get an ESPN simulcast, a studly line of apparel and imitators around the globe. In the end, Californian Joey Chestnut took the coveted Mustard Belt with 62 hot dogs. Pat Bertoletti was second with 55 and Eater X third with 43. And for the first time ever, the ladies got their own competition. Girl power! Sonya Thomas won with 40 hot dogs. Juliet Lee and Stehanie Torres tied for third with 29.
