August 11: Cut Copy at Prospect Park Bandshell

It always struck us that Australian electronic quartet Cut Copy never really knew what decade they wanted to channel (in a good way). Like sonic peers LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk, the band's music, while always forward-thinking, hearkens back to 1980s New Wave, synth pop and multiple strains of that decade's emerging dance music. Yet more than the others, Cut Copy always had a sweet spot for 1970s AM pop songs, making them slightly cheesier but more nostalgic-sounding and diverse. It's a formula that's obviously worked, as their latest album "Zonoscope" is their highest-charting to date. MORE INFO
