Why it’s the best: The Boston Pops have been showcasing their patriotism for the last 37 years with their Fireworks Spectacular, a 36 hour affair that begins Sunday, July 3, with a live concert (featuring the “1812 Overture”) and culminates in a not-to-be-missed fireworks extravaganza at 10:30 p.m. on July 4th. Lionel Richie will perform, Michael Chiklis will host, and CBS will be broadcasting the festivities on national television, so even if you’re not into celebrating the birth of our nation, maybe you’ll at least have a chance to participate in the contemporary American tradition of nabbing your fifteen minutes of fame.
