Why it’s the best: Whether jogging, proposing marriage or dumping a corpse (for a mobster movie, of course!), the Brooklyn Promenade is an oft-visited spot in New York City, and never is the view of Manhattan’s skyline more spectacular than on the Fourth of July. However, independence, as our Founding Fathers knew all too well, comes at a price, in this case shuffling in with the massive crowd that gathers each summer to catch a glimpse of the show in the sky. Claustrophobes, take warning.
