Brooklyn Bridge Pup Crawl
Straight after the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade, Petromix saddled up and headed for City Hall for an appointment with the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and the Brooklyn Bridge. Rescued dogs and their people were invited by the Mayor's Alliance and co-sponsor Petfinder.com to participate in a sunset walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to raise funds for animal shelters and rescues all over the country.
The crisp fall air tingled with excitement and rang with the barking of a lot of dogs getting their sniff and mingle on. The festivities kicked off with a rousing call and response from celebrity pet stylist, Dara Foster, the grand marshall of the evening's crawl—Dara: PUP!!! Us: CRAWL!!! On the bridge competing for space with tourists and bikers, the doggies marched proudly along with their special, designed-for-the-occasion "Pup Crawl Lights-Up Leashes" and stopped for photos or quick potty breaks.
The Pup Crawl began in 2009 in response to the one million pets expected to lose their homes to the foreclosure crisis. Today, The Pup Crawl raises awareness about the impact of the financial crisis on local animal shelters and rescues. For more info go to: www.thepupcrawl.com
