Dances of Vice: PhantasmaGorey
What do some of New York's most fabulous costume enthusiasts do for Halloween? Presided over by MC Dandy Wellington and Shien Lee, this year Dances of Vice left the nighttime to the amateurs and threw an Edward Gorey themed brunch--of all things!--at the Highline Ballroom, as a sort of pre-game to the main event, turning everyone's favorite costumed holiday into an all day celebration. There was Gorey Trivia, spooky burlesque, throat slitting in the rafters (we're sure that will come off in the wash!) and powdered wigs as far as the eye could see.
For anyone who might have needed any help converting a humdrum costume or everyday outfit into something macabre and wonderfully creepy, Purevile was on hand with their provocative and frightening fashions created from curiosities from the attic to turn the Goth up to eleven. 'Twis a true Victorian spookfest!
