Dances of Vice: The Diamond Ace | Ace Hotel
It's no secret that we at Metromix are big big fans of all things Dances of Vice, and their retro over the top glamorous parties, and therefore it was no surprise to see that the word is finally out. Last night Dances of Vice threw their first party - The Diamond Ace, an evening of femmes fatales and film noir - in the glammed up rec room that is Liberty Hall at The Ace Hotel, and we were greeted with a line that stretched almost all the way to the corner of Broadway when we arrived.
The night was filled with tango and gypsy music with a live soundtrack from Gato Loco Musica and tango performances from Strictly Tango Dance Company, and some gorgeous burlesque from Medianoche (oops! she spilled her drink) and the dark and dangerous Veronica Varlow, who was "saved" from a stray bullet by her trusty Zippo. With an extra special cocktail menu cooked up by Loungerati's Fredo Ceraso, the list might have been a tad bit ambitious to keep up with the hoards of thirsty revelers, but we'll take a double of anything combining Hendricks and Aperol.
At 2 am, the party became the afterparty with Disko Nouveaux with DJ's Miz Margo and Purevile, who were slipped a note by an angry tango fan, "The theme tonight WASN'T 80's prom...no love." Party pooper! It's always an '80's prom where we live! SEE COMPLETE GALLERY
