Oh Snap!
Last night was a glorious nerd fest at The Bell House, the guys from Secret Formula (they do interactive TV experiences) teamed up with BBC America to show the first two hotly anticipated episodes of the new season of "Doctor Who". There were costume contests and impressions and trivia, for all "Doctor Who" enthusiasts to geek out to. And although we loved the fabulously creepy Weeping Angel that won the costume contest, we really think that the adorable Dalek should have won.
We were introduced to a new breed of villainous alien on the show, with more than a few screams (that might or might not have been us)--there's just something about watching television in a room with a few hundred other people that encourages that sort of thing. But other than that little tidbit, we're not giving up any more spoilers, so don't ask. Guests were buying fistfuls of the "Doctor Who"-themed cocktails, like the Sonic Screwdriver. That was vodka, Blue Curacao and orange juice should you want to make a pitcher at home on Saturday for the TV premiere of the show. And delicious smells from the Chip Shop kept wafting into the room as people bought heaping plates of bangers and mash and shepherd's pie.
If British confectionery was not your thing for dessert, the gals from Geek Treats had whipped up a gigantic batch of fez cupcakes and Tardis cookies to satisfy the sweet tooths in the crowd. Tune in next week as Secret Formula presents an Aladdin singalong.--Gabi Porter
