Easter Parade 2011
This Sunday, hundreds of bunnies and bonnets descended onto Fifth Avenue to dazzle with an extravagant display of pastels and panache. Every year spectators are treated to the bustling scene known for the outlandishly festive concoctions that sit atop colorful bonnets worn by people and their furry companions.
Though everyone looked fabulous as they reveled in the attention from the ubiquitous snapping of cameras, there was a noteable cast of parade veterans that attracted the most attention thanks to their reputation for delivering big each year, like the tie-dyed bearded gentleman in his lacy white dress covered with his beloved costumed pigeons, or the lady who struggled to support her towering floral garden bonnet that appeared to sprout from the brim of the crowd.
After the blocked off avenue was returned to the holiday rush-hour traffic, attendees lounged around Rockefeller Center to the sounds of a Frank Sinatra inspired crooner and posed for more photo-ops amid the lush bunny topiaries. --Natasha Ryan
