Going down the rabbit hole in Tompkins Square Park
This weekend in Tompkins Square Park, downtown collective The Free Arts Society organized a trip down the rabbit hole a la Lewis Carroll at the Second Annual Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The Queen of Hearts was there organizing games, painting the roses red and threatening to chop off all our heads. Her deck of cards assembled itself for the games. The White Rabbit was late, of course. Alice, well, we're not sure what was going on with Alice. The Caterpillar spent all his time transforming into a butterfly. Everyone got a whack at Humpty Dumpty. And tea and cakes were, of course, served.
Onlookers stood transfixed as they asked, "Excuse me, do you know what's going on here?" Indeed! —Gabi Porter
