Hooray, Prohibition ended 78 years ago!
The annual Repeal Day party at Employees Only is a party so good that it's worth changing a flight to make sure you can make it to the bar on time—we know we did.Tripling up as the celebration of the repeal of the 18th Amendment, the bar's anniversary and the perpetual "69th" birthday of the much beloved partner, Henry, it's a boozy bash to put all other boozy bashes to shame.
There's a darned good reason that Employees Only was named "Best Cocktail Bar in the World"... in the world, people. Burlesque dancers took it off on the bar and helped the birthday boy make a cake, Lady Rizo sang about it all, there was free flowing champagne and cocktails and punch to go along with Chef Julia Jaksic's delicious bites including her sinful bone marrow poppers. Flappers and ragtime jazz and cocktail coupes galore. And if those boys behind the bar were any more adorable they might never get rid of us. Drink up, America, Happy Repeal Day.
