Oh Snap!
Juliette Campbell and her merry band of artists kicked off a week of storming the Bastille with a Francophile costume party at the Red Lotus Room over the weekend. With guests instructed to come dressed as their favorite Frenchie, revolutionary or not, between sets from the bands, aerial performances and a mini troupe of hot can can dancers, we spied a Marie Antoinette—still in possession of her head—a few Scarlet Pimpernels, Josephine Baker, a sprinkling of mimes and a couple musketeers, Toulouse Lautrec was doodling portraits in the corner and one gentleman beat the heat by coming in his very stylish undies. We guess that's French, right? The Crown Heights party space got things underway late night and kept things going as we peeped a sliver of sunlight on the horizon, for all we know they're still singing a giant chorus of La Marseillaise and swinging from the rafters. Liberté, égalité, fraternité!
UPDATE: We just heard that one of our favorite aerialists, Seanna Sharpe (pictured in the gallery) staged a magnificently reckless performance from the towers of the Williamsburg Bridge on Monday. We hope she's not in too much trouble with the law and gets out of jail soon!
